Quite possibly one of the greatest romantic comedies ever! Who knows how many times I might have benefitted from having the day reset on all the wrong things I have done only to be able to try it again and again until I got it right. To have a guiding hand there to say, yo stupid you farked it up again, we are going to wipe the raid till we get it right.
Turns out, like many things we want, it would likely be bad for us. We don’t live on a deserted island with a beach-ball named Wilson, nor do we wake up each morning to Sonny and Cher. So actions have consequences, we do what we do in community knowing that our actions, good bad or indifferent impact those around us.
I think rite A in the Book of Common Prayer gets it right:
ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father;
We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
We have offended against thy holy laws.
We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us.
But thou O Lord have mercy upon us, miserable offenders Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults.
Restore thou those who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name.
Princess is agnostic, raised by two traditions with some overlap and some contradiction. I don’t know which one she would lean toward given the need or desire to lean towards one or the other.
I, do not lean, I am fully entrenched, though that doesn’t mean I don’t respect either of her backgrounds. One I know far better than the other, having very nearly joined its ranks, the other is generally a mystery to me.
Does everything come back to Princess? For now it does. In the future, well you have already heard my waffling.
