If You Believe in the Sovereignty of God…

It is amazing how I allow myself to be pulled off centre. I became enamored with an ideal that does not yet exist. I even knew it was an non-existent ideal. Problem is, that non existent ideal was attached to a person. A person in the process, presently of playing with fire, and very likely going to be burned, I hope, rather than coooked.

Wait what!? No, I do not want them hurt, but I am aware that you can try and lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. Heck sometimes you can’t even lead the horse and if you point to the fresh water lake around the hill, the horse decides that it really wants to taste bitter water instead. In those cases, you have to let the horse learn. Like letting a child touch a hot pan, letting the horde drink the bitter water, you hope is not deadly or permanently ijurious, because not only do you like horses in general, you like this horse in particular. But, horses are intelligent, and with intelligence can frequently arise stubbornness. I am well beyond mixing metaphors here. My point is, sometimes a man just has to pee on the electric fence, I said that about myself not to long ago, as in weeks ago, so this very year. In fact the past few months have mostly been about me doing just that, peeing on fences just to see which ones have current in them.

Even worse: I know better, the above person, not only is young, but does not know better, yet.

Damn you are condescending.

No, I really am not. I simply recognise the value of mistakes, and my subject line: I believe in the Sovereignty of God.

If God is sovereign, and if God is loving, and if God is knowing, then:

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

It does not mean that there will not be a price to pay, it simply means that the time effort and striving will be redeamed. If the horse above, is a horse, and is not a mule or some other horse like creature, then it will be lead ultimately to the stream of living water, and if it is not, only death and the grave await until judgement and the resurrection.

Two big asides to note eventually: First, just because something can be described as a price paid, does not mean it is negative. Remember, all things, which things? All things, work together for good, for those who are called according to His pupose. That price could well be the reason for the next part:

What is a price, in one way of  thinking is still a thing, and all is still all, and for the good is always a blessing when seen in the fullness of revelation. So, it is not simply that the trial may be nescessary, but if it is gone through, it was nescessary. And that leads to the last item before I sleep…

Just because something is going to be used for our good, does not mean it should not be resisted. What? You heard me, the true concept that states all things work together for good, does not mean the thing should not be resisted. If someone i trying to kill you, I am going to resist. Maybe the reason is so that the resistance might occur, promoting a change, maybe it is because as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. What I am really saying is, likely we do not know the complete, long tetm good and the immediate direction it will take us, so we are ourselves, we play our role, andwe reflect Christ upon the asyet unredeamed creation and to our fellow man.
